The Project

Lauren Masullo is an Equal Justice Works Fellow serving in the Disaster Recovery Legal Corps (DRLC). Lauren chose to pursue a career in public interest law so that she could help low-income and disenfranchised individuals access essential legal services. She has a passion for serving members of her community who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Lauren’s project holistically addresses legal needs of low-income individuals impacted by Hurricane Harvey by providing these individuals with direct legal services. She also educates community members in locales affected by Hurricane Harvey regarding available legal services. Lauren leverages volunteer resources to ensure Hurricane Harvey survivors are able to rebuild their lives, specifically focusing on providing direct legal services to low-income individuals in Harris County, Texas, who are facing legal issues pertaining to foreclosure.

Prior to joining the DRLC, Lauren also served at Lone Star Legal Aid as an Equal Justice Works Elder Justice AmeriCorps Fellow and a Staff Attorney in the Crime Victim’s Unit, where she represented clients in protection order, family law, housing, probate, and public benefits matters. Lauren obtained a B.S. in sociology from Texas A&M University and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
