The Project

Impoverished seniors in Tennessee have to fight bureaucracy for every benefit they hope to receive. Shelby’s project screened clients who have experienced abuse and help them navigate the healthcare system, housing obstacles, and financial scams to become safer and more equipped to enjoy their lives. Through her Elder Justice AmeriCorps Fellowship, Shelby advocated for low-income seniors facing barriers to healthcare and independent living as a result of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.
