The Project

This project provides legal services to unaccompanied children in immigration proceedings.

Over the past summer, thousands of children fleeing violent conditions and poverty in their home countries of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, crossed the border into the United States, often seeking to be reunited with family members who have been living here for years. As no legal representation for these children is mandated, most of them have no idea how to present their claims for asylum or for other relief. This project seeks to remedy that situation for some of these children. With legal representation, the children have a much better chance of having their stories heard and their claims advanced.
