The Project

Assist low-income people to correct credit reporting errors and fight debt collection abuses so they can work their way out of poverty.

The Inspiration

Need Addressed By Project:
Every day, low-income people are denied housing and employment because of credit report errors. The credit report has become an increasingly important screening tool in our country, but millions of these reports contain potentially material errors. It can mean the difference between having a home and being homeless, having a job or being unemployed, and getting a fresh start or being weighed down by the past.
The Right Person For This Project:
Matthew is the right person for the project because:
• He has extensive experience working with low-income clients in a legal services context
• His past work at the National Consumer Law Center has exposed him to the many struggles that consumers in financial trouble face
• He has learned a great deal from working with community organizations in the Greater Boston area, and will use that knowledge to ensure that his project meet’s the community’s needs
