The Project

Grace provided legal assistance to former offenders and other individuals who face barriers to employment. In addition to conducting outreach and education, Grace provided direct representation on a number of matters including applications for Certificates of Relief, correction of criminal records, and procurement of driver’s and occupational licenses. Grace also hopes to work closely with existing community organizations to address how race, gender, and economic status influence employment opportunities in rural New York.

This project will illuminate several of the barriers built into our legal system. I hope to examine and challenge those barriers so that the law might expand, rather than restrict, access to justice.
